Tar Heels In Action At USAFH National Championships

Seven current Tar Heel field hockey players, six alums and two incoming freshmen are competing in the USA Field Hockey Women's National Championship currently underway in College Park, Md. The tournament began on June 1 and will wrap up on Friday with the announcement of the 2012 U.S. Women's National and Development squads.
Playing for the South team, which is coached by Grant Fulton, UNC's associate head coach, are current Tar Heels Loren Shealy, Marta Malmberg, Abby Frey, Katie Plyler, Kelsey Kolojejchick, Caitlin Van Sickle and Emily Kole, as well as alums Meghan Dawson, Katelyn Falgowski and Jackie Kintzer. Carolina assistant coach Guy Cathro serves as an assistant coach for the South team.
Tar Heel graduates competing on other teams are Rachel Dawson ¬(California), Amy Swensen (New England) and Jesse Gey (Pennsylvania.) Incoming freshmen Emily Wold (New Jersey) and Emma Bozek (North) also are competing.
