U.S. Out Of Medal Contention

The U.S. women's field hockey team fell 3-2 to New Zealand in Group B competition Saturday and in the process was eliminated from medal contention.
After New Zealand scored first, the U.S. twice tied the game on goals by Katie O'Donnell and Claire Laubach. The gamewinner came in the 64th minute.

In its final Group B match, the U.S. meets South Africa on Monday. That game will feature four former Tar Heels, with Illse Davids playing for South Africa and Rachel Dawson, Katelyn Falgowski and Amy Swensen playing for the U.S.
