Tar Heels Prep For NCAA Semfinal Matchup With UConn

NORFOLK, Va. - Third-ranked North Carolina will take on Connecticut Friday at 4:45 p.m. in the second of two NCAA Field Hockey Championship semifinal games at L.R. Hill Sports Complex on the campus of Old Dominion University. Duke and Maryland meet at 2 p.m. in the first semifinal, and the winners play Sunday at 4 p.m.

The Tar Heels (18-5) bused to Norfolk on Wednesday and practiced at the facility on Thursday afternoon. Thursday night was the championship banquet, held at the Virginia Beach Convention Center.
UNC is playing in the final four for the fifth year in a row and the sixth time in the past seven years. The Tar Heels last won the championship in 2009 and have finished as runners-up in each of the last three years.
Five Carolina players will finish their careers this weekend in Norfolk: seniors Meghan Drake, Sinead Loughran, Rachel Magerman and Marta Malmberg, and MBA student Janne Grove.
