March 5, 2013 | Field Hockey
The six-team, round robin tournament runs through Sunday, with the top two finishers advancing on to the World League Round 3.
The U.S. scored all six of its goals in the second half. UNC alum Jackie Kintzer earned the shutout in goal. In addition to Kintzer and Wold, Tar Heels on the team are Rachel Dawson, Katelyn Falgowski and Kelsey Kolojejchick.
Wold had represented the U.S. internationally as part of the Under-21 team, but Monday's game marked the first time with the National Team. Maryland's Jill Witmer also earned her first cap.
"I think wearing the Team USA jersey on the national level is a dream for a lot of people," Wold said after the match. "Today was really special and really exciting to be able to represent our country on the highest level and come away with a win."
The U.S. is back in action on Wednesday morning against Uruguay.
