Seven Tar Heels Earn All-Region Honors

Emma Bozek, Charlotte Craddock, Nina Notman, Samantha Travers and Emily Wold were named to the 16-member All-South Region first team, and Loren Shealy and Julia Young were named to the second team.
Those selected for the first team are in the running for All-America honors, which will be announced on Dec. 1.
Bozek, a junior midfielder from Cortlandt Manor, N.Y., was named to the first team after earning second-team honors last year. The team's leading scorer with 15 goals and 10 assists, both career highs, she also earned All-Atlantic Coast Conference honors this fall. She is majoring in business.
Craddock, a senior forward from Wolverhampton, England, was honored for the third year in a row. A public policy/peace, war and defense double major, she has 12 goals and one assist this fall, despite missing eight games with a back injury. She has earned All-America honors the past two years.
Notman, a junior midfielder from Hamburg, Germany, was named to the first team for the second year An All-ACC and All-ACC Tournament honoree this fall, she has 11 goals and nine assists this season. She is majoring in psychology.
Shealy, a senior forward from Charlotte, N.C., earned All-South Region honors for the first time. A business major, she is tied for second on the team in both goals (11) and assists (9).
Travers, a senior back from Harare, Zimbabe, earned all-region honors for the first time. The team captain, she also was named All-ACC and All-ACC Tournament. She is working toward a double major in sociology and communication studies with a minor in entrepreneurship.
Wold, the South Region Player of the Year in 2013 as a sophomore, has earned first-team All-Region honors in each year of her career. An All-ACC selection this year, the junior midfielder has two goals and nine assists. She is majoring in communication studies.
Young, a sophomore back from Yorktown, Va., earned all-region honors for the first time. A starter on the staunch Tar Heel defense in all 22 games this fall, she is majoring in exercise and sport science.
Carolina is making its seventh appearance in the NCAA semifinals in the past eight years and the 19th in team history. The Tar Heels will face No. 4 Syracuse on Friday at 2 p.m.
