The Tar Heels will practice at University of Maryland's Field Hockey & Lacrosse Complex on Thursday morning then join the other participating teams for the championship banquet on Thursday evening.
This is UNC's second trip of the season to College Park. The Tar Heels played Maryland here on Sept. 5, winning 3-1 to move into the top spot in the polls, a position that Carolina would hold for the rest of the season.
The Tar Heels have faced the Syracuse Orange twice already this fall. UNC hosted the Orange on Sept. 12 and won 3-0. The teams also met in the semifinals of the ACC Tournament in Durham, N.C., on Nov. 7, with SU winning 3-2 in overtime.
UNC is making its 19th final four trip and is playing in its 31st NCAA Tournament. The Tar Heels have won six NCAA titles, most recently in 2009.
