GREENSBORO, N.C. (theACC.com) - North Carolina sophomore diver Erin Purdy was named the Atlantic Coast Conference Women's Diver of the Week Tuesday. It is the first time the Deerfield, Illinois native has captured such honors.
Other weekly award winners included Duke's Nick McCrory, NC State's Jonathan Boffa and Virginia's Courtney Bartholomew as Men's Diver, Men's Swimmer and Women's Swimmer, respectively.
North Carolina's Purdy won four of four diving events in leading the Tar Heels to wins over No. 21 NC State, 167.5-126.5, and over Duke, 157-134. All four of Purdy's victories came with NCAA Zone Diving qualifying scores. She finished first in both diving events versus the Wolfpack, leading 1-2 UNC sweeps with teammate Kelly Corish in the meet. Against Duke, she took top honors in each event, scoring 267.68 in 1-meter and 300.60 in 3-meter.
North Carolina will close its dual meet season this Saturday at 11 a.m. when the Tar Heels play host to the College of Charleston at Koury Natatorium.
