Tar Heels Wrap Up Play at USA Field Hockey WNC

Abby Frey, a rising senior on the UNC field hockey team, was part of the winning squad as the USA Field Hockey Women's National Championship wrapped up on Saturday at the Spooky Nook Sports complex in Lancaster, Pa. Frey's USA Eagle team claimed the championship with a 2-1 shootout win over Freedom, which included rising sophomore Julia Young and UNC alum Caitlin Van Sickle on the roster.
In the third/fourth-place game, U21 beat USA Blue 5-4 after a shoot out. Shannon Johnson played for USA Blue and Emma Bozek for U21.
In the fifth/sixth-place game, Lauren Moyer scored the gamewinner as USA Red beat the Patriots 3-2. Kristy Bernatchez also played for Red and Grant Fulton, Associate Head Coach at UNC, was an assistant coach.
In the seventh/eighth-place game, Casey Di Nardo scored the first goal for eventual winner USA White.
