ACADEMIC HONORS
A total of 35 UNC student-athletes were named to the All-ACC Academic teams for spring sports. The teams take into account both academic and athletic achievement.
Baseball: UNC pitchers Benton Moss and Trent Thornton and outfielder Tyler Ramirez were named to the 2014 All-ACC Academic Baseball Team.
Men's Golf: Bailey Patrick and Andy Sajevic were named to the All-ACC Academic Team for men's golf, Patrick for the third time and Sajevic for the second.
Women's Golf: Jackie Chang and Katherine Perry, both May graduates, were named to the 2014 All-ACC Academic Women's Golf Team. Perry was honored for the third time and Chang for the second.
Men's Lacrosse: Five Tar Heels were named to the All-ACC Academic Team for men's lacrosse. Jake Bailey and Joey Sankey were honored for the third time, Jimmy Bitter and Ryan Creighton for the second and freshman Shane Simpson for the first.
Women's Lacrosse: Four Tar Heels earned spots on the All-ACC Academic Women's Lacrosse Team. Taylor George was honored for the third year in a row. Margaret Corzel, Sydney Holman and Sloane Serpe were honored for the first time.
Rowing: Allie Davis, Sarah Priest and Maria Santoyo were named to the All-ACC Academic Team for rowing. Santoyo's honor was her second, and she also earned All-ACC honors in 2014.
Softball: Kristen Brown, Jenna Kelly and Lori Spingola were named to the 2014 All-ACC Academic Softball Team. It was the second honor for both Kelly and Spingola.
Men's Tennis: Freshman Ronnie Schneider capped an outstanding freshman season with All-ACC Academic honors.
Women's Tennis: Freshman Hayley Carter, who earned All-America honors in singles and doubles, was named to the All-ACC Academic Women's Tennis Team.
Track and Field: Six men and five women from UNC were named to the All-ACC Academic Track and Field Team. Men honored were RJ Alowonle, Joe Hutchinson, Isaac Presson, Ryan Ramsey, Houston Summers and Austin Vegas. Women were Emily Godwin, Sarah Howard, Annie LeHardy, Cameron Overstreet and Lizzy Whelan.
Shealy Named Academic All-America
Loren Shealy, a rising senior on the UNC field hockey team, earned Academic All-America honors, recognizing outstanding athletic and academic performance. She was named to the 2014 Capital One Academic All-America Division I Women's At-Large second team.
Albert Honored by Exercise and Sport Science Department
Kacie Albert, a May 2014 graduate and four-year fencing letterwinner, has been honored as the recipient of the 2014 Scholar Athlete Award by the UNC Department of Exercise and Sport Science.
Women's Golf Honored by WGCA
Two Tar Heels, Leslie Cloots and Maia Schechter, have been named All-America Scholars by the Women's Golf Coaches Association.
ITA Honors UNC Men's Tennis Duo
The Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) has announced its 2014 Scholar-Athlete Award winners. Among those honored are two Tar Heels, Connor Daly and Nelson Vick.
Men's and Women's Swimming and Diving Honored
The UNC men's and women's swimming and diving squads were named Scholar All-America teams for the spring 2014 semester. The Team Scholar All-America Award is presented to college and university swimming and diving teams who have achieved a team grade point average of 3.0 or higher for the semester. In addition, 16 Tar Heel swimmers and divers were tapped for College Swimming Coaches Association of America Scholar All-America Teams which were announced July 14.

Skinner Honored with Women's Lacrosse Service Award
The Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association has named 2014 Tar Heel senior Zoe Skinner as one of three winners of the 2014 IWLCA Community Awareness Award.
