Carolina Volleyball Senior Salute: Lauren McAdoo
January 7, 2015 | Volleyball
CHAPEL HILL, N.C.- The conclusion of the 2014 season marks the end of four incredible Tar Heel athletic careers as Chaney LaReau, Lauren McAdoo, Chaniel Nelson and Ece Taner finish their time with Carolina volleyball as one of the most outstanding classes in school history.
The four seniors helped lead UNC to 106 wins, a .821 winning percentage and four-straight berths to the NCAA tournament during their time in Chapel Hill. The quartet spurred the Tar Heels to new heights in 2014, as the ACC Champions reached a program-high ranking of No. 7 in the AVCA Coaches Poll and No. 5 in the NCAA RPI.
In addition, the team finished its season in style by reaching the NCAA Regional Final for the first time in school history.
This week, GoHeels.com will look back at the careers and achievements of each player and the impact they have had on the Carolina volleyball program.

The emergence of Lauren McAdoo as a consistent six-rotation threat at the outside hitter position was a key development for Carolina during this past volleyball season. McAdoo, who had seen time at both pin positions during her career, stepped up in a big way for her senior campaign.
She poured in 265 total kills and 2.52 kills/set in her final year, both career bests. McAdoo also improved her hitting percentage to .224 during her senior season, a big jump from .203 as a junior. Her heavy arm and speed helped make her a fan favorite on the outside as she bombed balls at the net and behind the service line, while her athleticism and intelligence helped the 6-0 outside hitter score consistently against bigger blockers and contribute solid back row play.
McAdoo's most memorable performances from the 2014 season include her 17 kill, 13 dig double-double on the road against a scrappy Louisville team, and 16 kills in a five-set thriller against Kentucky in the Tar Heels' home opener. McAdoo finished her career with an impressive showing against No. 2 Texas, turning out a match high 14 kills to lead Carolina against the Longhorns in the NCAA Regional Finals. The senior faced the talented Texas block with aplomb, navigating up, around and through the block for kills when Carolina needed it most.
For her career, McAdoo finished with 649 kills, 233 digs, 110 blocks and 36 service aces. She played in 292 sets in 96 matches, and was the team leader in kills in 17 matches.
McAdoo, a complete student-athlete, graduated with her degree in communications and a minor in cognitive science on December 14, 2014, the day after helping lead the Tar Heels to the program's first NCAA Regional Final.
