Walker, Watts Combine For 59 In Rout Of FAMU

Walker led North Carolina (1-2) with 32 points and 10 rebounds for her first career double-double. The Orlando, Fla., native was 10-of-17 from the field and made all 10 free throws she attempted.
Meanwhile, Watts finished with 27 points on 9-of-17 shooting with six rebounds and five assists.
Jamie Cherry and Erika Johnson each had nine points, and N'Dea Bryant had eight points.
Carolina controlled the opening tip and never looked back in picking up its first win of the season. A 20-0 run in the first quarter iced this one early for the Tar Heels. Florida A&M went six minutes, 22 seconds between points, allowing UNC to build a 27-6 advantage.
Walker knocked down her first three shots from the field on her way to 11 points in the opening 10 minutes of the game as Carolina led 30-11 after one period, setting a season mark for most points in a quarter.
Carolina led by 30, 51-31, approaching halftime. Walker and Watts did a majority of the damage, combining for 32 points on 10-of-18 shooting to that point in the game.
Walker had 20 points at the half - Watts with 16 - as the Tar Heels led 57-29.
The advantage grew to as many as 37 points in the third quarter. Erika Johnson canned a three-pointer in the corner early in the fourth quarter to put Carolina up 84-44.
Olivia Antilla paced Florida A&M (1-2) with 17 points, while Cedricka Sweeting added 16 points.
Carolina hosts the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame Women's Challenge this Friday through Sunday at Carmichael Arena. Friday's schedule features Carolina against Fairleigh Dickinson at 6 p.m. and Iona versus Yale at 8 p.m.
