Seven Tar Heels Earn All-Region Honors

The honorees spanned all classes. Di Nardo, Notman and Wold are seniors, Young is a junior, Major is a sophomore and Hoffman and van't Hoog are freshmen.
Notman and Wold both were named to the first team in each year they played for the Tar Heels, three times for Notman and four for Wold. Young earned second-team honors last year, and Di Nardo was on the second team in 2013. The others were named All-Region for the first time.
First-team selections are now in the running for All-America honors, which will be announced in December.
Di Nardo, a journalism major Virginia Beach, Va., is a forward. She started every game as a senior and finished the year with 11 goals – including three gamewinners – and four assists.
Hoffman, biology major from Mohnton, Pa., is a defender. She totaled seven goals and an assist, and helped hold opponents to an average of 1.38 goals per game.
Major, an exercise and sport science major from Royersford, Pa., led UNC in goals from her forward spot. She scored 18 times, including five gamewinners, and also had nine assists for a team-high 45 points.
Notman, a psychology major from Hamburg, Germany, is a midfielder. She played three years at UNC and will graduate in December. As a senior, she scored 14 goals and added seven assists. She also had a team-best four defensive saves.
Van't Hoog, is enrolled in the General College and is from Den Haag, The Netherlands. She played midfield for the Tar Heels, starting every game as a freshman and scoring four goals with seven assists.
Wold, the team captain, is from Freehold, N.J., and is majoring in communication studies. A midfielder, she led the team in assists with 11 and finished her career third on UNC's all-time assists list. She also had 14 goals, tied with Notman for second on the team.
Young, the team vice-captain, is from Yorktown, Va. A defender, she anchored the Tar Heel back line and also ranked second on the team in assists with 10.
UNC finished the 2015 season with a record of 21-3. The Tar Heels were the ACC Tournament Champions and finished as NCAA runners-up after reaching the final four for the seventh year in a row.
