Tar Heels To Host Liberty In NCAA First Round

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. – The University of North Carolina women's soccer team has received a No. 3 seed in the NCAA Tournament field and will play host to Big South Conference champion Liberty University in the championship's first round this Friday at 6:30 p.m. at Fetzer Field.
Coach Anson Dorrance's Tar Heels are in the tournament for the 34th successive year. Carolina is the only school in the country to have made the field in every year of the tournament's existence. The Tar Heels are 14-4-1 this season and they earned an at-large berth in the tournament. Carolina finished in a tie for second place in the ACC regular season with Florida State and Clemson behind regular-season champion Virginia.
Liberty won the Big South Tournament championship and has a record of 13-7-1 overall. The Flames defeated Campbell 1-0 in the Big South Tournament championship game.
The two teams have one previous meeting. The Tar Heels beat the Flames 4-0 in the first round of the 2013 NCAA Tournament.
Tickets to Friday's game are $8 for adults and $5 for students age seven through college. Senior citizens 55 and above can purchase tickets for $5. Groups of 20 or more can purchase tickets for $3 apiece. Tickets are on sale now at the GoHeels.com Ticket Center.
