A junior from Ocean Port, New Jersey, Shannon Johnson is the team's goalkeeper for the second straight year after seeing significant time as a freshman. Johnson is responsible for being a brick wall behind the already stalwart UNC defense. So far this season Johnson has continued her successes from last season that resulted in her finishing first in the ACC among goalkeepers with a 0.87 goals against average. Johnson currently sports a stellar .609 save percentage this season.
The senior team captain and midfielder from Freehold, New Jersey is the go-to target in the middle of the Heels attack. Wold leads the team in total points this season with 15, accumulating six goals and three assists. Wold was named an All-America selection for the second year in a row following her previous season. In addition to starring on the field, Wold was also named to the NFHCA National Academic Team after her junior year. The Tar Heel standout is involved as a member of the U.S. National Team as well.
Like Emily Wold, Casey Di Nardo is also a member of the 2014-15 U.S. National squad. Di Nardo is currently second on the team in points with 8, helping to lead the team to an early 5-1 record. The senior forward from Virginia Beach is a vital point of the Heels' attack as she has started every game for Carolina for the last two seasons.
Nina Notman is a senior midfielder from Hamburg, Germany. Notman was a member of three separate German national teams before her time at Carolina. In her first season at UNC in 2013 the German led the team with 15 goals and 37 total points. Notman also finished second on the team in total points in 2014 with 34. The senior standout looks to help lead the Tar Heels to a National Championship in 2015.
