Tar Heels Help U.S. To Junior World Cup Berth

Four members of the UNC field hockey team helped the U.S. Under-21 Women's National Team to a silver medal on Saturday at the Junior Pan American Games in Tacarigua, Trinidad. By finishing as one of the top two teams in the event, the U.S. qualified for a spot in the Junior Women's World Cup, set for Nov. 23-Dec. 4 in Santiago, Chile.
After dominating in pool play, the U.S. fell 6-0 in the championship game on Saturday to powerful Argentina.
Carolina players representing the U.S. were juniors Lauren Moyer and Julia Young, sophomore Gab Major and freshman Ashley Hoffman. All were key players for the team and Major led the U.S. in scoring.
