Kolojejchick Earns 100th International Cap
August 9, 2016 | Field Hockey
UNC graduate Kelsey Kolojejchick reached a significant milestone Monday on an extraordinary stage. A forward for the U.S. National Field Hockey Team, she earned her 100th international cap as she helped Team USA to a 2-1 win over Australia in the squad's second match at the Rio Olympics.
“I'm so proud of Kelsey and her continued development,” UNC coach Karen Shelton said. “One hundred caps is a significant achievement and I'm happy for her that it came in a game she'll never forget.”
Kolojejchick is one of five former Tar Heel players on the U.S. Olympic team, and becomes the fourth of that group to have earned at least 100 caps. From Larksville, Pa., she lettered at UNC from 2009-2012 and is the only player in program history to earn first-team All-America honors all four years.
The U.S. team is now 2-0 in Olympic pool play. Next up is a game against Japan on Wednesday. For the team's full schedule, click here.
