Carolina Field Hockey Honored With Team Academic Award

The North Carolina field hockey team has been honored with a National Academic Team Award, as announced Wednesday by the National Field Hockey Coaches Association. The award recognizes programs that had a team grade point average of 3.0 or better during the 2016 fall semester.
The Tar Heels had a successful fall on and off the field. In addition to the National Academic Team Award, five UNC student-athletes earned spots on the All-Atlantic Coast Conference Academic Team and senior Emma Bozek was honored as the ACC Scholar-Athlete of the Year for field hockey. Bozek also was announced as the recipient of an ACC Weaver-James-Corrigan Postgraduate Scholarship for 2016-17. And Sam Night was inducted into Phi Beta Kappa during the week of the final four.
On the pitch, Carolina finished the season as the NCAA runner-up, reaching the final four for the eighth year in a row.
