Seven Tar Heels Selected For U.S. National Team Roster

Seven current or former Tar Heel field hockey players have been named the U.S. National Team roster for the FIH Hockey World League Semifinals in Johannesburg, South Africa, July 8-23. Selected for the 18-member squad were Jackie Briggs, Katelyn (Falgowski) Ginolfi, Ashley Hoffman, Lauren Moyer, Loren Shealy, Caitlin Van Sickle and Julia Young.
Briggs, Ginolfi, Shealy and Van Sickle are UNC alums and veteran members of the U.S. team. Hoffman, a rising junior at UNC, made her national team debut this spring. Moyer and Young graduated from UNC last month and both earned their first international caps in the U.S. team's recent home series with Ireland.

The U.S. will compete in Pool B and opens competition on July 8 vs. Chile. For a complete schedule and a look at the pools, click here.
The U.S. received an automatic bid to the event based on its world ranking of No. 6.
Following the World League Semifinals, the team will turn its attention to the Pan American Cup, which the U.S. will host Aug. 4-13 in Lancaster, Pa. For more information, click here.
