Carolina Hosts Miami for Military Appreciation Day

CHAPEL HILL – Remaining home after sweeping Wake Forest, North Carolina welcomes Miami to Chapel Hill Sunday at 1 p.m. for Military Appreciation Day.

Fans are encouraged to bring bottled water, chewing gum, beef jerky, granola bars and individual snacks to donate to the USO of North Carolina. Donations will be collected in the main lobby of Carmichael Arena. Fans unable to attend the match can watch on the ACC Network Extra and follow at UNClivestats.com.

Sunday's win marked head coach Joe Sagula's 800th career win. UNC ranks sixth in blocks in the ACC with 2.40 per set. Led by nine blocks from Katharine Esterley, Carolina out-blocked Wake Forest, 14.5 to 7.0 – the second-most blocks UNC has recorded this fall.

In the middle of a five-match road trip, Miami travels to the Tar Heel state to face Wake Forest Friday and North Carolina Sunday. Most recently, the Hurricanes dropped a pair of matches at Louisville and Notre Dame. Miami leads the ACC in service aces per set with 1.51 - 113 total.

About the Tar Heels (6-17, 2-12 ACC)
- After earning their first ACC win at home over NC State, the Tar Heels picked up their second at home with a three-set win over Wake Forest Sunday. Snapping a 10-match skid, the win marked head coach Joe Sagula's 800th career win. Carolina suffered a narrow defeat to Duke on Friday.
- Head coach Joe Sagula is three wins away from 600 at the helm of the Tar Heels.
- Destiny Cox leads UNC with 250 kills, followed by Ava Bell (174) and Skylar Wine (191) who recorded back-to-back double-doubles at Georgia Tech and Clemson. After posting nine blocks against Wake Forest Katharine Esterley tacks on 75 blocks to Bell's 74. Hunter Atherton runs the offense, dishing out 9.31 assists per set to rank sixth in the ACC. Starting libero, Mia Fradenburg owns team-best 296 digs.
- Each of UNC's preseason losses were against either ranked teams or teams receiving votes in the AVCA poll.
- The Tar Heels are 10-1 against Miami at home, winning the past 10 consecutive meetings dating to 2005.

- Bridget Wallenberger ranks eighth in conference with 1.21 blocks per set, behind Esterley's 1.17.
