Austin Named ACC Freshman of the Week

GREENSBORO, N.C. – Helping the Tar Heels to a pair of ACC wins, Parker Austin was named the ACC Freshman of the Week as announced Monday afternoon by the conference office. This is the Tar Heels' first newcomer honor since 2016.

Against NC State and Virginia Tech, Austin posted two double-digit kill matches, totaling 25 throughout the week. The freshman averaged 2.78 kills per set with five in the third set at NC State and four in three of nine sets. With 14 kills, the Edmonton, Alberta native recorded her fourth double-double of the season vs. Virginia Tech with 14 digs - her second-highest single-match total of the season. Only her fifth solo block of her career, Austin notched a pivotal solo block in the fifth set vs. NC State en route to the Tar Heels comeback win.

Pittsburgh's Chinaza Ndee was named the ACC Player of the Week.

The Tar Heels remain home to host Miami Friday at 6:30 p.m. and Florida State Sunday at noon.
