No. 3 Tar Heels Head To Virginia Tech For Wednesday Tilt

TAR HEELS LOOK TO REBOUND AT VIRGINIA TECH
• Third-ranked North Carolina (8-2, 1-1 Atlantic Coast Conference) will look to bounce back from its first loss in a month when it visits 21st-ranked Virginia Tech (8-4, 1-1 ACC) on Wednesday at 4 p.m. at Thompson Field in Blacksburg, Va.
• The Tar Heels are ranked No. 3 in the IWLCA poll and No. 4 in the Inside Lacrosse D1 Media poll this week. The Hokies are No. 21 in the coaches poll.
• The ACC Network Extra will stream the game live.
• Carolina dropped a 14-8 home decision to top-ranked Boston College last Saturday in Chapel Hill that snapped a five-game winning streak.
• Starting on Wednesday at Virginia Tech, UNC will play three consecutive and four of its last five ACC regular season games on the road. Carolina's lone remaining scheduled home game will be on April 13 vs. Syracuse.

• Second-seeded North Carolina got multiple goals from six players and beat Virginia Tech by a score of 17-8, in the NCAA Tournament second round on May 13, 2018, at Cardinal Gibbons High School in Raleigh.
• Marie McCool led the Tar Heels with three goals, two assists and 13 draw controls, also causing two turnovers. Katie Hoeg had two goals and four assists, Jamie Ortega and Maggie Bill each had three goals and an assist and Ela Hazar added two goals and two assists. Olivia Ferrucci had two goals and one assist, while Scottie Rose Growney and Marisa DiVietro each had single goals for the Tar Heels.
• Taylor Moreno started for Carolina in goal and played well in picking up the win, making 11 saves.
2018 ACC TOURNAMENT IN DURHAM, N.C.:
CAROLINA BEATS HOKIES, 14-8
• Second-seeded North Carolina held third-seeded Virginia Tech scoreless for 17:54 during an 8-0 run and beat the Hokies, 14-8, in the ACC Tournament semifinals on April 27, 2018, at Koskinen Stadium on the campus of Duke University.
• Marie McCool, Jamie Ortega and Ela Hazar each had hat tricks for the Tar Heels. McCool finished with three goals, two assists and seven draw controls. Hazar had three goals and an assist. She broke her own UNC single-season assist record midway through the first half with her 41stof the year.
• Maggie Bill scored twice for UNC, and Kara Klages had a goal and an assist. Gianna Bowe and Charlotte Sofield also scored single goals.
• Taylor Moreno (4-1) started for Carolina in goal and played well in picking up the win, making tying her career high with 17 saves in 60 minutes.

CAROLINA DOWNS HOKIES, 13-12
• Olivia Ferrucci scored twice in a 31-second span in the final two minutes to lead the fifth-ranked North Carolina women's lacrosse team to a 13-12 win over No. 17 Virginia Tech at Kenan Stadium on March 28, 2018.
• After Carolina led early, 6-1, and by an 11-7 score with under 18 minutes to play in the second half, the Hokies rallied for five consecutive goals to take a 12-11 lead with 4:09 to go. Ferrucci scored unassisted with 1:57 left to tie it at 12-all, then took a pass from Katie Hoeg and scored with 1:26 remaining for the win.
