Tar Heels Will Close Regular Season At Duke Saturday At 7 p.m.

• Third-ranked North Carolina (11-3, 4-2 Atlantic Coast Conference) will hope to move into a tie for second place in the ACC standings when it visits 13th-ranked Duke (9-6, 2-4 ACC) on Saturday at 7 p.m. in Durham, N.C. The game was originally scheduled for Friday night but was moved to Saturday (first to noon, then 7 p.m.) due to predicted stormy weather in the area.
• UNC is 4-2 in the ACC after back-to-back wins over Louisville and Syracuse. Boston College (6-0 ACC) has wrapped up the top seed in next week's ACC Tournament. Notre Dame and Syracuse are tied for second place and have finished ACC play at 5-2.
• The game will mark the final game of the 2019 regular season for UNC. The ACC Tournament will begin on April 24 in Chestnut Hill, Mass.
• The Tar Heels are ranked No. 3 in the IWLCA poll and No. 3 in the Inside Lacrosse D1 Media poll this week. Duke is No. 13 in both polls.
• The ACC Network Extra will stream the game live. Ryan Craig (play-by-play) and Debbie Taylor (analyst) will have the call.
• Four of Carolina's last five ACC regular season games will have been on the road with the exception being an 11-5 win over Syracuse last Saturday.
• The latest NCAA women's lacrosse RPI rankings (through games of April 14), are No. 1 Boston College, No. 2, Maryland, No. 3 UNC, No. 4 Virginia and No. 5 Syracuse.
SERIES HISTORY VS. DUKE
• Carolina leads the all-time series with Duke, 23-14, including eight consecutive Tar Heel wins.
• Last year, UNC beat Duke, 20-10, in Chapel Hill. Two years ago, Carolina won 19-7 at Duke and 18-6 in the ACC Tournament quarterfinal in Richmond, Va.
• UNC has won 11 of the last 12 and 16 of the last 19 meetings in the series.
LAST YEAR IN CHAPEL HILL
TAR HEELS DOWN DUKE, 20-10 (April 21, 2018, Chapel Hill)
• Fifth-ranked North Carolina got a career-high seven goals from Jamie Ortega, closed the first half on a 10-0 run and defeated No. 22 Duke by a 20-10 score on April 21, 2018, at Kenan Stadium.
• Ortega's seven goals and eight points were season highs for the freshman, and the seven goals were just one off the UNC single-game record of eight set by Kellie Thompson in 2002.
• Marie McCool had four goals and one assist for the Tar Heels, while Katie Hoeg had a goal and four assists. Maggie Bill finished with two goals and two assists, and freshman Taylor McDaniels scored twice. Kara Klages, Charlotte Sofield and Marisa DiVietro each scored once.
MORENO EARNS ACC WEEKLY HONOR
• Carolina's Taylor Moreno is the ACC Defensive Player of the Week for April 16, the conference announced on April 16.
• Moreno was stellar in goal throughout North Carolina's 11-5 victory win over third-ranked Syracuse, making 12 saves and gathering two ground balls. She held Syracuse to a season-low five goals, the Orange's first single-digit scoring effort of the season.
GIANNA BOWE WINS KELLIE THOMPSON SHILEY AWARD
• Gianna Bowe is the 2019 winner of the Kellie Thompson Shiley Award, the University of North Carolina women's lacrosse program announced on April 13. Bowe, a senior from Mullica Hill, N.J., accepted the award after Carolina's 11-5 win over Syracuse.
• Bowe is one of the Tar Heels' most versatile players on the field. This spring, she leads Carolina with 19 ground balls and is second on the team with 28 draw controls. She is also tied for fourth on the squad with seven caused turnovers.
• Kellie Thompson played at Carolina from 1999-2002, earning All-America honors three times and helping lead the Tar Heels to the 2002 Atlantic Coast Conference Tournament championship and the 2002 NCAA semifinals. A team co-captain in 2002, she set and held the UNC scoring records for a game, season and career for over a decade. She passed away unexpectedly in 2012 and is survived by her husband, Ryan Shiley, and their children, Landon, Blake and Paige.
• The Kellie Thompson Shiley Award is given annually to the Tar Heel player who excels in the classroom and on the field, displays outstanding leadership at all times, sets a positive example for younger players and has a true passion for the game of lacrosse, all of which were traits Kellie displayed.

• Junior attacker Katie Hoeg is one of the top playmakers in UNC history and already ranks second in Tar Heel history in assists.
• Hoeg enters Friday's game at Duke with 104 career assists. Ela Hazar (2015-18) is Carolina's career assist leader with 121.
• Hoeg passed Becky Lynch (92) for second place in the win at Virginia Tech on March 27.
