Tar Heels Will Open ACC Tournament Vs. Hokies On Wednesday

SEEKING FOURTH ACC TITLE IN A ROW, TAR HEELS HEAD TO BOSTON
• Second-seeded North Carolina (12-3, 5-2 Atlantic Coast Conference) will try to capture its fourth consecutive conference championship at the ACC Tournament hosted by Boston College this week.Â
• Carolina will open ACC Tournament play in the quarterfinals on Wednesday at 5 p.m. against seventh-seeded Virginia Tech.
• UNC tied with Notre Dame and Syracuse for second place in the ACC regular season and earned the second seed based on the score differential tiebreaker.
• The Tar Heels are ranked No. 3 in the IWLCA poll and No. 3 in the Inside Lacrosse D1 Media poll this week.Â
• The ACC's Regional Sports Networks will televise the game live, and the ACC Network Extra will stream it live.Â
CAROLINA'S ACC TOURNAMENT HISTORY
• Carolina has an all-time record of 26-18 in ACC Tournament play and captured its third conference title in a row last year in Durham, N.C. The Tar Heels won their first ACC title in 2002 and also won titles in 2016, 2017 and 2018.
• The Tar Heels have won nine consecutive ACC Tournament games, last losing in the 2015 final to Syracuse.

• Jamie Ortega had five goals and two assists and Katie Hoeg had a season-high four goals and four assists as the third-ranked North Carolina women's lacrosse team picked up a 19-5 win at Virginia Tech on March 27 in Blacksburg.
• Ten Tar Heels scored goals in a balanced offensive attack. Scottie Rose Growney added three goals for Carolina, which also got a goal and an assist from both Kara Klages and Ally Mastroianni.
• Gianna Bowe, Tayler Warehime, Elizabeth Hillman, Olivia Ferrucci and Ida Farinholt all scored single goals
LAST TIME OUT
• Carolina scored seven consecutive goals midway through the game and beat 13th-ranked Duke, 19-5, to close the ACC women's lacrosse regular season in Durham, N.C., last Saturday night. Â
• Jamie Ortega had six goals and two assists to lead the Tar Heels. Olivia Ferrucci added a career-best five goals, and Katie Hoeg had two goals and fie assists. Kara Klages and Ally Mastroianni each scored twice, and Gianna Bowe and Ida Farinolt both scored once. Emma Trenchard had her first career assist.

• Six North Carolina players led the way as the Atlantic Coast Conference released the 2019 All-ACC Team.
• Carolina and Boston College combined to place 11 total players on the first and second teams. The Tar Heels led all schools with six total selections – three on the 16-member first team and three on the 12-member second team.Â
• Tar Heel goalie Taylor Moreno, attacker Jamie Ortega and defender Emma Trenchard earned First-Team All-ACC honors. Attacker Katie Hoeg, midfielder Gianna Bowe and defender Charlotte Sofield made the second team.
