JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Senior Daniel McArthur earned a ticket to the 2021 NCAA Outdoor Track & Field Championships by placing eighth in the shot put Wednesday at the NCAA East Preliminary at Hodges Stadium.

The 2021 NCAA Championships are set for June 9-12 in Eugene, Ore.

McArthur was one of 13 Tar Heels competing on Wednesday in the first day of action in Jacksonville. Three Tar Heels advanced on to Friday's finals. Craig Saddler II in the 400m hurdles and Brandon Tubby and Jesse Hunt in the 1500 meters all moved on.
