Tar Heels Win Share Of 25th ACC Regular Season Title

LOUISVILLE, Ky. – Second-ranked North Carolina clinched a share of its 25th Atlantic Coast Conference regular season championship Thursday night with a 2-0 win over Louisville.
The Tar Heels, who began play today tied atop the ACC standings with 21 points, finished the conference regular season slate with an 8-2 record and 24 points. Depending on the outcome of tonight's matches between involving the Seminoles and Fighting Irish, UNC will either claim the title outright or share it.
The top two seeds in the upcoming ACC Tournament receive a bye into the semifinals, while the No. 3 seed will host a first round game.
Carolina (15-3) has won six in a row, with each of its last three victories claimed on the road.
Sophomore Ruby Grant subbed on in the 61st minute and scored her first goal of the season in the 66th minute breaking a scoreless tie.
Isabel Cox, who assisted on Grant's goal, headed a shot off Emily Moxley's corner kick inside the post to make it 2-0 in the 68th minute.
UNC goalkeeper Emmie Allen stopped each of the seven shots she faced for her fifth solo shutout of the year and the Tar Heels' 12th, tops in the ACC.
UNC outshot Louisville (6-8-2, 3-7-0) 13-7, with seven shots on goal to one for the Cardinals.
