Down-Jenkins Wins 1M Diving Event At NCAA Zone Championships

ATLANTA – Carolina senior Anton Down-Jenkins finished first on the 1-meter springboard diving competition at the NCAA Zone B Championships to qualify for the 2022 NCAA Championships on Monday.
Down-Jenkins won the 1-meter title with a score of 742.85 which was 1.75 points better than the score that he posted to win the event at the 2021 Zone B Championships.
Sophomore Aranza Vazquez, who qualified for the NCAA Championship in the 1-meter event Sunday with a first-place finish, placed third in the 3-meter springboard competition on Monday to punch her ticket to the NCAAs in the 3-meter. She posted a championship career best score of 737.90 besting her previous career mark of 717.30
The Women's NCAA Swimming and Diving Championships will be held at the McAuley Aquatic Center in Atlanta March 16-19, while the men's championship will be held at the venue a week later, March 23-26.
