CHAPEL HILL, N.C. - Carolina volleyball coach Mike Schall and his staff are excited to announce the addition of middle blocker Lauren Schutter to the 2023 Carolina volleyball team. Transferring from Michigan State, where she redshirted her freshman season, Schutter arrives in Chapel Hill with four years of eligibility.Â
Â
A 6-foot-2 redshirt freshman, Schutter is an Alma, Kansas native. A three-sport athlete at Wabaunsee High School, she was a three-time first team All-State selection in volleyball. Schutter led the Chargers to a 32-10 record and a berth into the Kansas Volleyball Association (KVA) Class 2A state tournament as a senior and was an All-Mid-East League selection. In 2021, Schutter earned the third KVA All-State Tournament team honor of her career.
Â
She was a unanimous first team all-conference selection as a sophomore, junior and senior and a AVCA Best and Brightest first team selection in 2021.
Â
Off the volleyball court, Schutter was a three-time unanimous all-conference and an all-state athlete in basketball. She was the triple jump state champion in 2019 and long jump state champion in 2021 and 2022. She also holds the Wabaunsee High School record in the triple jump, long jump and 4x100.Â
