Bruder Earns Third ACC Offensive POTW Honor Of The Season
October 22, 2024 | Field Hockey
CHARLOTTE, N.C. – For the third time this season sophomore forward Charly Bruder has earned the Atlantic Coast Conference's Field Hockey Offensive Player of the Week award, the league announced on Tuesday. Â
Â
A pair of goals in both of North Carolina's wins over the weekend made her the conference's choice for the honor. She is the only player this season to have won more than once.
Â
The young forward continues to be the class of the ACC. She has two or more goals in five contests this season, the only player in the conference to have done so.  She also leads the ACC in a number of categories including goals (17), points (36), and shots (76).
Â
In Friday's offensive outpouring against Wake Forest, Bruder put the Tar Heels out of reach early with two goals in the first half that gave her team a three-goal cushion.
Â
Her goals were even more crucial in a tighter contest against Old Dominion on Sunday. Bruder opened the scoring in the third minute before adding her second of a corner late in the fourth to seal the deal. It was her third straight game with multiple scores, the longest such streak of her career.
Â
The second ranked Tar Heels face a double-feature of big time matchups this weekend, as No. 4 Virginia and No. 9 Boston College come to Chapel Hill. Friday's game against the Cavaliers will start at 5:00 p.m. ET and will be streamed live on ACCNX.
