Tar Heels to play 15 matches at Carmichael Arena
CHAPEL HILL, N.C. – Highlighted by 15 home matches inside Carmichael Arena, the 2024 Carolina Volleyball schedule includes eight contests against NCAA Tournament teams from a year ago, including matches against national semifinalist Pittsburgh and regional finalist Stanford.
"We're excited about the group we have heading into the 2024 season," said head coach Mike Schall. "The non-conference slate will be a great test for us and prepare us for the challenging ACC schedule."
In their second season under the leadership of Schall, the Tar Heels open things up with a road exhibition against App State on Aug. 16 and will host the Blue-White Scrimmage at Carmichael Arena Aug. 23 before starting regular season play at home with three matches in three days. The Heels host Cleveland State (Aug. 30), Charleston (Aug. 31), and Western Carolina (Sept. 1) in Chapel Hill.
Carolina will then hit the road for Columbia, S.C., to take on Temple and host South Carolina on Sept. 7 and Sept. 8, respectively. The Heels will stay on the road and head out to Kansas to play Lipscomb (Sept. 14) and host Kansas State (Sept. 15).
The non-conference slate concludes with a pair of home matches that kick-off a four-game homestand. Michigan will come to Carolina on Sept. 20 with Michigan State taking on the Heels Sept. 22.
ACC play begins on Sept. 27 as the Tar Heels host Syracuse, before welcoming Boston College to Carmichael Arena for a Sept. 29 tilt.
This season's home-and-home series with Duke takes place in a three-day stretch, as Carolina heads to Durham for an Oct. 2 match and then plays host to the Blue Devils two days later on Oct. 4.
The first of two four-game road trips is up next with the Heels set to play at NC State (Oct. 11), Wake Forest (Oct. 13), Virginia Tech (Oct. 18), and Virginia (Oct. 20), before returning home for a set of four.
On Oct. 25 Carolina hosts Florida State, which kicks off five out of six matches against NCAA Tournament teams from last season, including a road tilt at national semifinalist Pitt. The Heels host Miami on Oct. 27, then welcome Clemson to town on Nov. 1, and end the homestand with Georgia Tech on Nov. 3.
The second four-game road trip begins at Pitt on Nov. 8, with the Tar Heels taking on ACC newcomer SMU on Nov. 10, Notre Dame on Nov. 15, and Louisville on Nov. 17.
The final homestand of the regular season includes two more matches against new ACC opponents as Cal comes to Chapel Hill Nov. 22 and Stanford, which advanced to the regional final last year, visits Carmichael Arena Nov. 24. The Heels will then host Virginia on Nov. 27, before closing out the regular season on the road at Clemson on Nov. 29.
All regular season home games for Carolina Volleyball are free admission and do not require a ticket for entrance.
