Undergraduate Assistant Coach

Joined the Tar Heel coaching staff in 2010 as an undergraduate assistant coach while completing her degree. Owens, a former team captain, finished her playing career in 2009.

Senior Season: Played in 58 sets appearing in 22 matches in her senior season as a team captain • Averaged 1.02 kills per set and 1.93 digs per set in her last season as a Tar Heel • Switched to the right-side from an outside hitter with success • Uncorked a season-best 13 kills and a .444 hitting percentage en route to a 3-2 win over Virginia Tech (11/8/09) on senior day • Registered a team-high 15 digs to lead Carolina in a 3-0 win at Miami (10/23/09) • Posted a season-high 17 digs against N.C. State in the season finale.

Junior Season: Will be a key senior leader in 2009 • Played in 20 matches at outside hitter for the Tar Heels after being plagued by injuries in 2008 • Injuries to her ankle and shoulder forced junior to a reserve role • Recorded 20 digs and 8 kills against Miami (10/18/08) • Finished seventh on the team with 60 kills • Tallied 73 points on the season, good for 2.03 points per set.

Sophomore Season: Played in 59 sets at outside hitter • Reached double digits in kills in seven matches • Registered a season-high 20 kills at Clemson on Oct. 26, which equaled her career best • Ranked second on the team with 2.93 kills per game • Finished with four double-doubles on the year • Reached a season high in digs with 15 at Georgia Tech Oct. 27 and again four matches later against Virginia Nov. 9.

Freshman Season: Appeared in 78 sets at outside hitter for the Tar Heels • Reached double figures in kills in 13 matches, including 11 of the last 13 of the season • Established a career high with 20 kills against Virginia on Oct. 27 • Had a career-high 21 digs at Virginia on Sept. 22 • Also had 16 kills in that match, one of her 10 double-doubles on the season • Had a career-best four blocks against Miami Nov. 17 • Finished the season with 224 kills, good for second on the team • Named to the All-ACC Academic team.

Prep: Lettered in both volleyball and basketball • Member of 2006 National Champion club team • Named a Senior Ace by Prep Volleyball • Volleyball co-captain as a senior • Volleyball team was sectional champions each year she played • All-county performer in volleyball in 2004 • Member of the National Honor Society.
