Tar Heel Claims ACC Men's Lacrosse Player of the Week Honors

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. - Senior midfielder Jeremy Carey was named the ACC Player of the Week after helping the 16th-ranked North Carolina men's lacrosse team to a stunning 10-9 victory over three-time defending national champion Princeton.
Carey had a strong defensive effort, finishing the game with two groundballs, four take aways and two assists. Carey's second assist set up the game-tying score late in the fourth quarter, sending the game into overtime.
Carey has started six of the seven Tar Heel games this season and has four goals and four assists on the year. Carey is also second on the team with 16 take aways and third with 18 groundballs.
With the victory, the Tar Heels improve to 5-2 on the season, while the eighth-ranked Tigers drop their third straight game to start the season at 0-3.
Carolina travels to College Park, Md. Saturday to face their first ACC opponent of the season. The seventh-ranked Terrapins enter the game with a 4-1 record.
