CHAPEL HILL, N.C. - The eighth-ranked University of North Carolina men's lacrosse team will try to keep its undefeated record intact Saturday afternoon when the Tar Heels play host to the 16th-ranked Delaware Fightin' Blue Hens at Fetzer Field at 1 p.m. Admission is free.
Carolina (3-0) has opened with successive wins over Fairfield 12-11, Butler 13-7 and a thrilling come-from-behind triumph over Navy 11-10 in overtime last Saturday. The Blue Hens are 2-1 coming off a 15-5 rout of Rutgers in their last game.
The all-time series between the two schools is tied at 5-5. UNC will be looking to avenge an 18-16 lost to the Blue Hens in Newark, Del. last season. That was Carolina's first loss to Delaware since 1950. The last time the two teams played in Chapel Hill, the Tar Heels defeated the Blue Hens 21-7 in 1997.
The game with Delaware is the fourth home game in a season-opening six-game home stand for the Tar Heels. UNC will also play host to #12 Pennsylvania (1-0) on Tuesday, March 14 at 7 p.m. and to Ohio State on Saturday, March 18 at 1 p.m. at Fetzer Field.
