Carolina Announces 2003 Men's Lacrosse Tri-Captains

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. - The preseason #9 North Carolina men's lacrosse team has announced its captains for the 2003 campaign with UNC being led by a trio of senior midfielders. Kyle Bell of Baltimore, Md., Austin Garrison of New Canaan, Conn., and Steven Will of Phoenix, Md. have been chosen in a vote of the teammates to lead the Heels in 2003.
ell has been a regular in UNC midfield units since his freshman year. Last year he played in all 13 matches with four goals, eight assists and 12 points.
oth Garrison and Will are two year starters. Garrison and Will join Bell in 2000 as an outstanding all-freshman midfield corps. Will switched to attack in 2001 and 2002 but will likely see more time in the midfield this year where he also played some last year.
Garrison is a 2002 honorable mention All-America. He started 13 games last season with 12 goals, 12 assists and 24 points as well as 36 ground balls. Will started 11 games last season and had 15 goals, four assists and 19 points. He was fourth on the Tar Heels' with 36 ground balls.
UNC plays its regular season opener February 22 against Bucknell at 1 p.m. at Henry Stadium in Chapel Hill.
