Men's Golf Finishes Tied For 14th At Cleveland Golf/Augusta State Invitational

AUGUSTA, GA.- The University of North Carolina men's golf team finished the Cleveland Golf/ASU Invitational tied for 14th place.
The University of Tennessee won the event with a three-round combined team score of 841. The Volunteers came in five strokes ahead of second place Wake Forest. Clemson finished in third with a 849-stroke total, while North Carolina State and Florida tied for fourth place, posting scores of 851.
Tennessee's David Skinns defeated Gregg Jones of Clemson in a sudden death playoff to take home the individual medal. Skinns fired a two-under-par 70 in the final round, while Jones carded a six-under 66. Both ended up with three-round totals of 203. Camilo Villegas of Florida and Johnson Wagner of Virginai Tech finished tied for third, two strokes off the lead. Graeme McDowell of UAB came in fifth, three strokes off the pace.
North Carolina's Bob Cherry was the low scorer for the Tar Heels. The Wilmington junior fired an third-round 71 to close out the event with a seven-under-par 209. Dustin Bray finished eight stokes behind at 217. Brad Molden finished tied for 70th after carding a 78 on Sunday for a total of 224. Ramon Bescansa came in tied for 72nd with a 225, while teammate Jeremy Elliot finished 85th with a 228.
The 54-hole tournament was played at the par-72, 6,875-yard Forest Hills Country Club.
