UNC Men's Golf In Eighth Place At Schenkel E-Z-Go Invitational

STATESBORO, Ga. - The North Carolina men's golf team finished in eighth place after two rounds of play on Saturday at the Schenkel E-Z-Go Invitational. The team posted a five-over-par 293 in the first round and an even par 288 in the second.
Carolina is coming off two straight wins and is ranked eighth by the Golfweek/Sagarin Collegiate Golf Rankings and 13th by the Precept Coaches' Poll. UNC junior Richard Treis is tied for fourth place after carding a 72 and 68 for a total four-under 140.
Clemson, ranked number one in the country by both polls, holds first place after finishing the day at nine-under 567. Wake Forest is in second place at seven-under 569. Auburn is in third at five-under 571.
Auburn's Will Claxton is in first place at six-under. He carded a 67 and 71 in today's rounds for a total 138. His teammate Stuart Moore is one stroke back and tied for second place with Clemson's Jack Ferguson. Moore shot a 69 and 70 to sit at five-under for the tournament. Ferguson shot 72 and 67. South Carolina's Eirik Johansen is tied with Treis in fourth place at four-under.
Other Tar Heel finishes include: senior Ramon Bescansa tied for 29th at two-over for the day; junior Dustin Bray tied for 35th at three-over; freshman Kevin Silva tied for 41st at four-over; freshman Fernando Figueroa tied for 67th at 12-over.
The Schenkel E-Z-Go is hosted by Georgia Southern. It is being played at the Forest Heights Country Club, a par-72, 6,962-yard course. Teams will play the third and final round Sunday.
