Tar Heel Men's Lacrosse Team Add Nine Recruits

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. - The University of North Carolina men's lacrosse program added nine prospective student athletes Thursday as Coach John Haus announced his third recruiting class as he continues his rebuilding of the Tar Heel lacrosse program.
Six of the nine commitments come from natives of the Bay State of Maryland while one each comes from New York, Connecticut and New Jersey.
The Tar Heels will enter the 2004 season having lost seven seniors off a 2003 team which finished 7-6 and lost the six games by a combined total of only 10 goals. The Tar Heels achieved something in 2003 that the program had failed to accomplish since the 1995-96 season, post back to back winning records. UNC has not had a losing record since Haus returned to his alma mater as head coach and the 2004 team will feature Haus' first three recruiting classes as juniors, sophomores and freshmen. Gentry Fitzpatrick, Gilman School, Baltimore, Md., Defenseman, Free State Team 2001, 2002; First Team Baltimore Sun All-Metro 2002; Member of Football Team ranked No. 1 in the State in 2002.
Geoff Hoffman, Severna Park High School, Severna Park, Md, Midfielder, First Team All-Anne Arundel County in football as tailback, 6-3, 205.
John "Buddy" Kennedy, Garden City High School, Garden City, N.Y., Defenseman, 3-year starter; Honorable Mention All-Nassau County.
David Ryan, Darien High School, Darien, Conn., Midfielder.
Tom Sciolla, Moorestown High School, Moorestown, N.J., Midfielder, All-State Lacrosse; All-State Soccer;
Trey Sheain, Boys Latin High School, Baltimore, Md. Goalkeeper, First Team Baltimore Sun All-Metro 2002; Starter on MIAA championship team 2002.
