April 14, 2004
CHAPEL HILL, N.C. - The University of North Carolina men's lacrosse team remained No. 5 in this week's STX/Geico U.S. Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association national coaches poll. Coach John Haus' Tar Heels (6-3, 2-1 ACC) will next be in action Saturday when UNC hosts the University of Maryland Baltimore County (4-4) at Kenan Stadium at 1 p.m. Saturday's venue is at Kenan because UNC is hosting the ACC Track & Field Championships at Fetzer Field.
Carolina's only losses this season have come to the nation's top three teams in this weeks poll -- Johns Hopkins, Navy and Maryland -- and in each case the Tar Heels lost by only one goal.
Carolina will host the 2004 ACC Lacrosse Championship at Fetzer Field on Friday, April 23 and Sunday, April 25. No. 1 seed Maryland will play the first game on Friday night at 6 p.m. and No. 2 seed North Carolina will play the second game at 8:30 p.m. Their opponents will be determined by the outcome of this Saturday's game between Duke and Virginia. The ACC Lacrosse Championship game is on April 25 at 3:30 p.m. at Fetzer Field.
