Tar Heels Place Three Players On All-ACC Team

GREENSBORO, N.C. - Senior defenseman Ronnie Staines, junior attackman Jed Prossner and junior midfielder Bryant Will were the three representatives of the University of North Carolina voted onto the 2004 All-Atlantic Coast Conference Men's Lacrosse Team announced Thursday by the ACC Office.
Maryland, North Carolina and Virginia each placed three representatives on the honor squad, while Duke added two members on the team. The All-ACC team is determined by a vote of the league's four head coaches.
There are only three members of this year's team who have been named to an All-ACC team in multiple years - Maryland's Chris Passavia and Virginia's Tillman Johnson are both three-time selections, while North Carolina's Jed Prossner was tabbed All-ACC for the second straight year. ACC Player, Freshman and Coach of the Year honors will be announced on Tuesday, April 27.
The 2004 ACC Men's Lacrosse Championship will be held April 23 and 25 at the University of North Carolina. Top-seeded Maryland will face No. 4 Duke in the first semifinal at 6:00 p.m., while No. 2 North Carolina will host No. 3 Virginia in the second semifinal at 8:30 p.m. The championship game will be held at 3:30 p.m. on Sunday.

Named to All-ACC Team for second straight year...has led Carolina in scoring each of the past three years...ranks in the Top 12 in the country in points and goals per game this year...has 108 career points.
*Bryant Will, Jr., Midfielder, Phoenix, Md.
Leads the Tar Heels in assists with 14 this year...has started 36 straight games for Carolina in the first midfield unit...has 72 career points.
*Ronnie Staines, Sr., Defenseman, Severna Park, Md.
Co-captain of the Tar Heels...has started 48 successive games on close defense for the Tar Heels...has led UNC defensive unit which has limited opponents to 8.6 goals per game.
