Tar Heels Host Scrimmage Against Virginia Wesleyan Saturday

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. - Head Coach John Haus will lead his pre-season No. 5 North Carolina Tar Heels into scrimmage action for the final time Saturday when Carolina plays host to Virginia Wesleyan College at 12 noon. The scrimmage game will be played at Henry Stadium on the UNC campus.
The game will mark the final scrimmage tuneup for Carolina before the Tar Heels host their regular season opener against the University of Denver Pioneers on Saturday, Feb. 26 at 1 p.m. at Fetzer Field. UNC is coming off a 10-5 season a year ago and the Tar Heels return 31 letter winners and eight starters from last season.
Virginia Wesleyan is coached by former Tar Heel assistant coach J.P. Stewart, who coached with the Tar Heels from 1999-2002. Stewart is starting is third year at the helm of the VWC program in 2005. The Marlins finished the 2004 campaign with a 5-8 record.
UNC played a trio of scrimmages last Saturday at Henry Stadium and employed the day long event to get game experience for the entire Tar Heel roster. UNC beat Greensboro College 7-3, Lynchburg College 14-2 and Limestone University 8-7 in the three games.
