UNC Ranked 18th In Nike/Inside Lacrosse Men's Division I Media Poll

BALTIMORE, MD. - North Carolina is ranked No. 18 and defending national champion Virginia took home the top spot, garnering 13 first-place votes. Virginia was followed by Johns Hopkins, Syracuse and Princeton, which all received one first-place vote. Georgetown rounded out the top five.
Coach John Haus' Tar Heels open the 2007 season Saturday at 1 p.m. in Baltimore, Md. against Ohio State. The game will be played at Calvert Hall High School.
Maryland and Cornell followed Georgetown, and Duke, which returns to the field this spring after its season was cancelled last year, is eighth in the preseason Nike/Inside Lacrosse Men's Division I Media Poll. Navy is ranked ninth and Massachusetts, last year's national runner-up, is tenth.
Also in the top 20 are Notre Dame, Towson, Loyola, Denver, Hofstra, Pennsylvania, Penn State, North Carolina, UMBC and Delaware.
The ECAC and the ACC were the two conferences with the most ranked teams (four apiece). All four ACC teams made the top 20.
The Nike/Inside Lacrosse Men's Division I Media Poll comes out each Monday during the spring and is voted on by members of various media outlets throughout the country.
