CHAPEL HILL, N.C. - The University of North Carolina men's lacrosse program will hold its spring alumni weekend March 4-5, 2011 in conjunction with the Tar Heels' matchup with UMBC. All four national championship teams are being invited back and will be recognized at halftime of the game on March 5.
UNC's national championship years were 1981, 1982, 1986 and 1991 so 2011 marks the 30th anniversary, 25th anniversary and 20th anniversary for three of those squads. All alumni of any era are welcomed back for the weekend. The four NCAA championship teams will be introduced at halftime of the UNC-UMBC, scheduled for 12 noon on Saturday, March 5.
An alumni, parents and friends tailgate will take place after the lacrosse game. UNC and Duke will battle in basketball at the Dean Smith Center that night and alumnus Gary Burns, Class of 1982, will be organizing an event at Time Out Sports at the Chapel Hill Holiday Inn to watch the basketball game.
Alumni interested in attending the weekend can contact head coach Joe Breschi in the lacrosse office.
