Tar Heels Picked To Finish Second In ACC In 2014

GREENSBORO, N.C. - The University of North Carolina men's lacrosse team has been picked to finish second in the Atlantic Coast Confernce in 2014 it as announced Wednesday by the conference office. The preseason rankings and the preseason All-Atlantic Coast Conference Team were chosen by a vote of the league's six head coaches.
Defending ACC champion North Carolina and defending NCAA champion Duke are tied for second in the preseason poll behind conference newcomer Syracuse.
Three Tar Heels were chosen for the preseason All-ACC Team. Junior attackman Joey Sankey, junior midfielder Chad Tutton and senior short stick midfielder Ryan Creighton were all named first-team All-ACC selections.
Sankey and Tutton were amongst the team's leading scorers a year ago. Sankey was second on the squad with 56 point and second on the team in goals with 36 (one behind Marcus Holman). Tutton was dynamic in the midfielder for Carolina in 2013 with 28 goals and seven assists for 35 points. Creighton set a school record for goals in a season by short stick defensive midfielders with 11. He also had three assists and 22 ground balls. Sankey led all Carolina attackmen last year with 43 ground balls.
