STUDENT-ATHLETE LIFE
• Tar Heel student-athletes are among the many UNC students traveling this summer, both with Carolina programs and on their own. Check out this look at the experience Brandon Robinson (men's basketball) had in London and be on the lookout for more on summer experiences.
• Members of the Carolina football team took a career field trip recently to get a behind-the-scenes look at a working in radio, courtesy of a Tar Heel alum.
ACADEMICS
• All-ACC Academic teams for spring sports were announced recently, with 37 Tar Heels honored. Leading the way was junior Nicole Greene, who was named the Atlantic Coast Conference Scholar-Athlete of the Year for women's outdoor track & field. It's the second ACC Scholar-Athlete honor for Greene, who was the indoor winner in 2018. The group of honorees represents 11 different majors: biology; business administration, communication studies; economics; environmental studies; exercise & sport science; media & journalism; peace, war and defense; philosophy; political science and psychology.
Those named to 2019 Spring All-ACC Academic teams were:
Men's Golf: Ryan Burnett, Joshua Martin
Women's Golf: Brynn Walker, Kelly Whaley, Jennifer Zhou
Men's Lacrosse: Justin Anderson, Jack Halpert, Jacob Kelly, Timmy Kelly, Connor Maher, Alex Trippi, Zachary Tucci
Women's Lacrosse: Gianna Bowe, Katie Hoeg, Ally Mastoianni, Emma Trenchard, Tayler Warehime
Rowing: Paige Colpo, Lauren Ferner, Margaret High, Sally Stanley, Kelly Williams
Softball: Leah Murray, Brittany Picket, Kiani Ramsey
Men's Tennis: Blaine Boyden, Brian Cernoch, Joshua Peck
Women's Tennis: Jessie Aney, Sara Daavettila, Makenna Jones
Men's Outdoor Track & Field: Alex Milligan, Onyedikachi Ohia-Enyia, Drew Pedersen
Women's Outdoor Track & Field: Nicole Greene, Anna Keefer, Jill Shippee
Baseball has not yet been announced.
• Seniors Jack Halpert and Timmy Kelly were selected for the men's lacrosse Scholar All-America Team.
• The men's and women's swimming & diving teams both earned Scholar All-America honors for the spring semester, after also earning the recognition in the fall. The award requires a team GPA of 3.0 or better for the semester.
COMMUNITY OUTREACH
• UNC student-athletes and staff teamed up to benefit Habitat for Humanity, helping to put the finishing touches on homes in an Orange County neighborhood. Members of the rowing, women's soccer, volleyball and wrestling teams participated, along with several coaches and staff members.
• Before school got out, one local elementary school classroom hosted a special visitor.
• Cooking is among the many talents UNC student-athletes display. ⬇️
