CHAPEL HILL, N.C. – The top-ranked North Carolina field hockey team competes on its home turf again on Sunday at 3 p.m., hosting William & Mary at Karen Shelton Stadium in the third game of a four-game homestand. The Tar Heels are 4-0 heading into the matchup, while the Tribe comes in at 1-3.
There is no charge for admission. The game will be televised live on the ACC Network.
After playing two games per weekend in the first two weeks of the season, UNC has only Sunday's game this week. The Tar Heels' last outing was a 6-0 win over Penn on Sept. 8. The William & Mary matchup is Carolina's last game before opening Atlantic Coast Conference play on Sept. 20, with Louisville set to visit Shelton Stadium that evening.
The Tribe is coming off a defensive battle at VCU on Friday. The game was scoreless through regulation and two overtimes and was decided in a penalty shootout, with the hosts winning 1-0. William & Mary outshot VCU 7-0 in overtime and 11-8 for the game, but couldn't get a score.
The teams last met in the 2018 NCAA Tournament, with UNC winning 4-0 in a first-round game at Shelton Stadium.
