Tar Heels Complete Day 2 at Raleigh Relays

North Carolina had strong performances across the board Friday at the Raleigh Relays, the team's outdoor track and field season opener.
Competition at NC State's Paul Derr Track & Field Facility continues on Saturday with Tar Heels in action beginning at 10 a.m. with the men's hammer throw.
In Friday's action, Tar Heels had fourth-place finishes in the women's triple jump (Brianna Isles), men's discus (Daniel McArthur) and men's triple jump (Jaren Holmes).
In the women's 400 meters, Brianna White won her heat and placed seventh overall
Two Tar Heel men finished in the top eight in the triple jump. After Holmes in fourth with a distance of 50-3 ¼, freshman Jordan Purvis placed eighth with a distance of 47-11 ¾.
Draven Crist placed fifth in the men's high jump in 6-6 ¾.
Erin Edmundson led the way for UNC in the women's 1,500 meters, placing sixth in her heat and 20th overall in 4:26.76.
