VB Falls To No. 5 Louisville In Three

LOUISVILLE, Ky. – The Carolina volleyball team (12-13, 6-10 ACC) dropped a three-set match at No. 5 Louisville (23-3, 14-2) on Sunday afternoon in L&N Federal Credit Union Arena.
Junior outside Mabrey Shaffmaster put on a strong offensive performance against the Cardinals, tallying a match-best 16 kills with a .343 hitting clip to go with a pair of aces, six digs and a block assist.
Freshman middle blocker, and Kentucky native, Sydney Nolan recorded 5 kills on 10 attempts and had three blocks, tied with Sadie Swift for a team-best.
Setters freshman Zoe Behrent and sophomore Anita Babic combined for 22 of the Tar Heels' 30 assists, while Maddy May had a team-best eight digs.
The Tar Heels were outhit .124 to .402 in the matchup and struggled with a Cardinal block that tallied 10 total blocks.
Up next, Carolina returns to Carmichael Arena in one week on Nov. 19 to host Florida State at 1 p.m.
