Swimming & Diving Splits Up For Weekend Meets In Virginia

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. – The University of North Carolina men's and women's swimming and diving teams will be in separate locations over the weekend to close out the 2022-23 regular season.
The Tar Heels swimming teams will be in Charlottesville, Va., to compete in the Cavalier Invitational, while the diving squads are in Christiansburg, Va., to participate in the Virginia Tech Invitational. Both meets will begin on Friday with the Cavalier Invitational ending Sunday and the diving portion of the Virginia Tech Invitational concluding Saturday.
The UNC swimmers will be one of eight teams competing in the three-day Cavalier Invitational along with host Virginia, George Washington, JMU, Johns Hopkins, UNC Wilmington, Richmond and William & Mary.
The Tar Heels divers will compete against Duke, South Carolina, Tennessee and the host Hokies at the Virginia Tech Invitational.

The UNC women have posted four NCAA 'A' qualifying times and 26 'B' qualifying times, while the men have registered 29 NCAA 'B' marks.
Paige Burrell, Anton Down-Jenkins, Emily Grund, Alex Hart, Haley Marshall and Kevin Melendez have all qualified for the NCAA Zone B Regional Diving Championships.
This will be the Tar Heels' final tune-up for the ACC Championships which begin in Greensboro on Feb. 14.
