May 25, 2023 | Men's Lacrosse
CHAPEL HILL, N.C. - North Carolina men's lacrosse defensive midfielder Connor Maher was named to the United States Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association (USILA) All-America list, announced Thursday afternoon.
The Timonium, Md. native collects Second Team honors from USILA for the third-straight season, also earning postseason All-America recognition this year from USA Lacrosse Magazine and Inside Lacrosse.
Voted a team captain prior to the 2023 season, Maher appeared in all 14 contests this year, ranking fourth on the Tar Heels with 32 groundballs and second with 14 caused turnovers.
On the year, Maher collected multiple groundballs in nine contests, while causing a career best three caused turnovers on two occasions, against Denver (March 4) and Dartmouth (March 19). Offensively, Maher posted single-game career-highs in goals (2), assists (2), and points (3) throughout his final season in Chapel Hill. Last week, Maher was drafted 13th overall by Archers Lacrosse Club in the 2023 Premier Lacrosse League College Draft.
The announcement continues a storied stretch of postseason All-America recognition from the USILA, as the Tar Heels have had at least one player honored every year from the organization since 1968.
