VB Earns Sweep Over Coastal Carolina

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. – The Carolina volleyball team (6-3) earned their third sweep of the season on Sunday afternoon, downing Coastal Carolina (5-7) in straight sets.
The Tar Heels improve to 4-0 in Carmichael Arena on the season, having dropped just one set in four matches in Chapel Hill.
Junior outside hitter Mabrey Shaffmaster had the hot hand for the Tar Heels, tallying a match-high 15 kills with a .438 hitting percentage. Anita Babic ran the offense with 36 assists, four kills and three digs, while defensively Maddy May recorded a match-best 13 digs. May, who is averaging 4.09 digs per set, has had double-digit digs in all but one match this season.
As a team, Carolina outhit the Chanticleers .301 to .149 and had 47 kills to just 26 from Coastal Carolina. The Tar Heels finished the weekend 2-0 with victories over both Coastal and Santa Clara on Friday.
