Women’s Lacrosse Ends Regular Season With 16-11 Win Over No. 25 Duke

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. – The 15th-ranked North Carolina women's lacrosse team capped off the regular season with a 16-11 victory over No. 25 Duke in the Tobacco Road rivalry on Thursday evening at Dorrance Field.
Following the win, the Tar Heels end the regular season at 10-5 (6-3 ACC) while the Blue Devils fall to 10-7 (4-5 ACC).

Following the win, the Tar Heels end the regular season at 10-5 (6-3 ACC) while the Blue Devils fall to 10-7 (4-5 ACC).
How It Happened
- It was back-and-forth on the offensive end to start the game with the score standing at three apiece 10 minutes in.
- A converted free position attempt from Liv Pikiell was the first of three straight goals for the Tar Heels, who ended the quarter up 6-3.
- Ashley Humphrey netted the first goal of the second quarter to make it a 4-0 run for Carolina, but Duke responded with three unanswered to get back within one.
- The second goal of the day from Caroline Godine put the Tar Heels up by two before the Blue Devils made it a one-goal game at 8-7 to close out the first half.
- Two quick goals from Caitlyn Wurzburger elevated UNC to a four-goal lead and Darcy Felter's third of the day put the home team up, 14-9, at the end of the third.
- UNC's defensive unit kept Duke to just four goals in the second half, adding two more of its own to end the game, 16-11.

- Eight different Tar Heels scored, highlighted by hat tricks from Godine, Felter and Pikiell.
- Godine led all players with three assists and six points, the 25th multi-point game of her career.
- North Carolina out-shot Duke 35-19 – and 19-8 in the second half – including 25-15 on goal.
- Livi Lawton and Emily Nalls both had two caused turnovers for four of UNC's seven. DU finished with six.
- Nalls also had four of the Tar Heels' 14 ground balls, two more than the Blue Devils' 12.
